How to Save Money on Auto Insurance
There are some quick ways to save money on auto insurance. Take it from me I have had 2 teenagers that while driving had a couple of accidents, tickets and drove my insurance rates through the roof. Now they have their own insurance and my policy has dropped significantly.
But during the experience of having such high rates I learned about some of the things to reduce my premiums. For awhile I was paying $500 a month for the four cards. This is $6,000 per year for car insurance!
One of the first things you should do is to make sure you get all the discounts you qualify for. Some of these include good student discounts, anti lock breaks, air bags, security system etc.
You also want to make sure you drive low profile cars that do not top the list for horse power or theft.
Raising your deductible to $1000 instead of $500 can take off a good percentage of the premium also and is worth doing. Yes, if there is an accident you will have to come up with an additional $500 if it your fault, but it is better than paying hundreds in extra premiums over a few years time.
Another important thing you can do is to check around at the rates for different insurance companies. This task is worth the effort as premiums change over time. It is easy to get free quotes online and can save you big.
